The Somerset Otter group had a display stand at the Exmoor National Park bogtastic event on 29th July. Otter group literature and publications were on display together with some fresh spraint collected by Jo Pearse. The display contained a good collection of camera trap photos from within Somerset and the groups survey information. Otter deaths and mitigations were illustrated together with a reflector. The groups two new information leaflets were available.
We were unable to compete with the bat group beside us, who had brought live bats and which prompted the question from one person, why hadn’t we brought a live otter?. It is a testament to the attraction of the otter that we can field so many dedicated enthusiasts to survey in Somerset, over many years, without much chance of getting to see a live one.
The stand was manned by Jillie Leonard, Jo Pearse and Lucy Mead.
